Brain Dead x Ms .45: It's No Longer a Man's World!

Brain Dead x Ms .45: It's No Longer a Man's World!

We’re thrilled to release this shirt in homage of Miss .45. A deep cut that was first detested and reviled upon its 1981 release, only later to rise to cult status. Isn’t that how it always goes? The revenge thriller packs a punch and a bullet. Shocking for its time, due to its explicit gory rejection of harassment and violence towards women. The film was bought by Alamo Drafthouse in 2013 and converted to HD and redistributed in 2014. Quickly becoming a cult favorite among the underground and horror fans alike. The main character, Thana, racks up bodies of prowling men hiding them in her tiny apartment. It’s a gory head rolling movie of fun. The Tee will be sold at the Rio Cinema in London this weekend. Check the site quick at 10 AM PST Friday May 13th to grab before it goes. WEAREBRAINDEAD.COM, or at Brain Dead Studios Fairfax, Brain Dead Studios Harajuku, and select retailers worldwide.

Our Exclusive T-Shirt In Collaboration With The Locust For The Reissue Of Their EP Safety Second, Body Last

We are delighted to announce our exclusive, collaborative t-shirt in partnership with The Locust as a part of our ongoing partnership in celebration of their 2005 EP Safety Second, Body Last. Featuring art by the inimitable Tetsunori Tawaraya, whose hyper detailed illustrations have long been included within the Brain Dead ecosystem, this shirt marks the official reissue date as well as the release of our limited edition vinyl. Following up their critically acclaimed album Safety Second, Body Last is unique in the sense that it takes the listener on a journey from beginning to end. As stated by the band, “The concept for SSBL has been explained as one 10-minute song split into two tracks, each of which is further dissected into separate movements. The result is a timeless sci-fi onslaught described in reviews as an “elegant mind-fuck of organized noise” and “a fascinating contrast full of viciously dadaist musical fragments and surreal, perceptive lyrics.” This will mark the first ever reissue of the San Diego based band’s beloved EP. Our t-shirt in celebration of The Locust’s Safety Second, Body Last will be available on April 29th, 10am PST at wearebraindead.com and Brain Dead Studios Fairfax.

Brain Dead x Ceremony

We are excited to announce our latest musical collaboration with Ceremony in celebration of their newest release: Vanity Spawned By Fear. Brain Dead Studios Fairfax will host an immersive concert event on Thursday, April 14th at 7PM as the band prepares for their upcoming run of U.S. shows. The event will include a hyper limited edition vinyl pressing of Vanity Spawned By Fear featuring custom OBI strips as well as an exclusive t-shirt to commemorate the evening. Founded in California in the mid 2000s, Ceremony’s sonic journey has seen them develop from a turbulent, highly regarded hardcore band into a considerably more melodic, post-punk group. Comprised of guitarists Andy Nelson and Anthony Anzaldo, bassist Justin Davis, singer Ross Farrar, and drummer Jake Casarotti, Ceremony are not ones to think back on past work... This forward-facing approach is not only felt by fans in their constant evolution but fully acknowledged by the group itself. As stated by Anzaldo, “Not reflecting on the evolution of the band is what keeps us motivated. There is always a song we haven’t written, a band we haven’t played with, artwork we haven’t thought of. We are creators by nature, not by choice.” Our collaborative t-shirt with Ceremony will also be available online on Friday, April 15th at 10 AM PST. Don’t miss out!

Rush Hour Bags

Rush Hour Bags

Everyone has those things they simply can’t leave home without. There’s the classics: phone, wallet, keys… perhaps some cigarettes for the smokers out there, then of course you’d need a lighter, right? No one likes stinky breath, some gum would probably be a good call. It is spring, maybe some chapstick to protect your lips from the sun… then what about sunscreen? And of course you can’t forget your dignity, a sense of self, and that pesky old thing called direction. Whatever your essentials entail, heading out the door is not the time to be messing around trying to figure out what’s coming along for the ride. Don’t get stuck pondering what can fit in your pockets and wasting precious daylight (you know come autumn you’re gonna wish you had those minutes back). With spring in full sprung, bring everything you could ever dream of carrying and more with our new and improved Rush Hour Bags. Featuring a nylon body and industrial clear mesh this is the final boss before those overstuffed, bulky pockets die the slow, painful death they’ve had coming for a long, long time. Remember: there can only be one Costanza… and it’s not you.

Spring 22 Collection Is Here!

Spring 22 Collection Is Here!

Ahhh Spring. A season marked by hazy week-long vacations, groundhogs’ impactful decision making and allergies that fuel big Pharma’s never ending profit cycle (yuck and yuck). Spring also brings the inevitable “cleaning” associated with the season, which often means getting rid of those old t-shirts you never got around to tie-dying and those pants that just never seemed to fit right. Thankfully, Spring also means a new collection of Brain Dead gear to re-clutter your closet with. Here’s what we’ll say: the team worked diligently to bring you a variety of pieces to fit all of your Spring-y needs. We’re talking fleeces, corduroy jackets, tees and, of course, all new colorways of our fan favorite waffle knit snap front shirts. As with all of our recent mainline releases, this Spring also brings a brand new women’s line. For our female friends we’re giving you updated baby tees, double knee utility pants, paneled skirts and 3/4 zip short sleeve mock necks that are ready for whatever twists your journey takes this season. Our Latest Kids Is Officially Here!

Kids are the world’s most valuable resource. We all know they will inevitably rule the world, but it’s easy to forgot they’ll be the ones to save it as well. While kids learn from their parents, teachers and role-models, a youthful disposition can teach us “adults” just as much as we could ever teach them… which if you ask us is a pretty beautiful thing. In the spirit of supporting our friends 6 and under, we are thrilled to be releasing our latest kids collection just in time for Spring. This drop includes 4 short sleeve t-shirts with graphics that have the majority of the office wishing they were were back in kindergarten. This week also brings two bucket hats featuring our latest 16 eyed bear graphic.

Brain Dead x Sergio Tacchini

Brain Dead x Sergio Tacchini

We are honored to announce our latest collaboration with none other than Italian Sportswear powerhouse Sergio Tacchini. No name is more synonymous with Italian tennis excellence than that of Sergio Tacchini, both on and off the court. Whilst engaged in an illustrious pro career spanning the breadth of the 1960s, Mr.Tacchini founded his business (originally called Sandys S.p.A) in 1966. His namesake label has forever been aligned with Brain Dead’s core tenets as he set out to infuse color and quite frankly, life, into what was traditionally a sport whose superstars were clad in white from head to toe. Mr. Tacchini grew his business to eventually become one of the marquee sportswear manufacturers of the 1980’s, going on to to sponsor the likes of John Mcenroe, Peter Sampras and even Novak Djokovic in the early stages of his career. Now 83, we hope Mr. Tacchini is as proud of the work his brand has done over the past 56 years as we are to be collaborating with him on this range of goods that will look as good on your backend as they will your forehand. Did we say that right? Brain Dead x Sergio Tacchini features two fully-fledged tennis kits. Were talking headbands to socks and everything in between. The collection will retail from $30-280 and will release on Tuesday, March 1st via wearebraindead.com, sergiotacchini.com and select retailers worldwide.

Our Exclusive Ringer Tee In Celebration Of Anxious’ Recently Released LP Little Green House

Our Exclusive Ringer Tee In Celebration Of Anxious’ Recently Released LP Little Green House

We are thrilled to partner with Connecticut based Anxious on an exclusive ringer tee in celebration of their recently released LP Little Green House. Founded in 2016 while still in High School, Anxious quickly enamored hardcore audiences with their urgent freneticism and heart-on sleeve lyrics. Composed of vocalist Grady Allen, guitarists Dante Melucci and Ryan Savitski, bassist Sam Allen, and drummer Jonny Camner, Anxious had their extensive touring plans canceled in the wee stages of 2020. While disheartening, this did afford the group a luxury many desire while embarking on their latest project: time. Delving into Allen’s mother’s basement, the group wanted their first album to not only be an honest reflection of their surroundings, but of themselves. According to Allen, “It was just about us wholeheartedly trying to create something that felt distinctly like us and not worry for a second if it feels unfamiliar—we just wanted to create something that was unabashedly us.” With a title inspired by the home in which the album was created, Little Green House is set to satiate Anxious’ growing audience once again upon its release in January of 2022. Our ringer tee sports the same graphic as our exclusive vinyl variant of Little Green House released in late ‘21 (of which all product is shipping this week). The tee will retail for $54 and be available on 2/8 via wearebraindead.com.

Our New Climbing Collection (Sherpas Included)!

We’re back with a brand new climbing collection, including our latest run of Sherpa outerwear. While the term Sherpa has taken on a modern pop cultural meaning, it is important to recognize that the origin of one of our beloved fabrics comes from the hearty wool clothing that the Sherpa people of Nepal wore to withstand their home climate. Now don’t get it twisted, we by no means are recommending wearing our Sherpas at 28,000 feet, but we DO recommend our latest California Paneled Sherpa Vest + Jacket for pretty much any other outdoor activity. Just don’t come to us if you can’t get to the top… Our latest climbing collection features a vest, jacket, two t-shirts and a long sleeve. The collection will be available on Tuesday, February 1st at 10 AM PST via wearebraindead.com as well as Brain Dead Studios Fairfax, Brain Dead Studios Harajuku, our Long Beach Rising Shop-In-Shop and select Dover Street Markets worldwide.

Brain Dead Partners With KALEIDOSCOPE on an exclusive H.R. Giger x Chris Stein tee in celebration of new book KooKoo 1981

We are ecstatic to announce our latest partnership with KALEIDOSCOPE in celebration of their new book 'H.R. Giger x Chris Stein: KooKoo 1981'. Published on the 40th anniversary anniversary of Debbie Harry’s debut solo album (titled ‘KooKoo’), this book chronicles the intricate relationship between Harry and Giger while creating the album. Featuring an unpublished body of pictures by Chris Stein—Blondie’s co-founder and guitarist and Harry’s life-long creative partner—'KooKoo 1981' takes an in-depth look at the nightmarish set designs erected by Giger for both the album’s cover art and music video. Well known for his biomechanical creatures, extraterrestrial landscapes and disturbing sexual machines, Giger’s work was groundbreaking for the world of proto-special effects, changing people’s perception of props to be a living, breathing means of artistic communication. We are honored to pay homage to this legendary Swiss artist, with his penchant for ghoulish, out-of-the-ordinary human representation, in commemorating 'KooKoo 1981.' The exclusive Brain Dead x KALEIDOSCOPE Longsleeve will be available on 01/29 at 10 AM PST for $64 via wearebraindead.com.

Our Peru Story Collection Is Officially Back

Those who’ve been following along know that we at Brain Dead have the strongest of affinities for Peruvian alpaca wool. What started in 2020 as a mere flicker in our hearts has turned into a full blown love affair for the ages. In fact, we adored our initial collection so much that we released product featuring what is traditionally referred to as ‘the fiber of the gods’ in ‘21 and now ‘22. You may be asking yourself; ‘Why Alpaca?’ Not only is Alpaca fiber softer than a baby’s bottom, but it is water and flame resistant as well. In fact, Peruvian’s loves Alpacas so much that they even named August 1st National Alpaca Day, formally recognizing this beautiful beast for all its glory. We are honored to continually work with local artisans on these collections and bring you a range of goods with cultural significance through our own lens. Our latest Peru story features two sweaters and two beanies of the same colorways (orange and green). The collection will retail from $85-180 and be available on January 25th via wearebraindead.com as well as Brain Dead Studios Fairfax, Brain Dead Studios Harajuku and select Dover Street Market locations worldwide.

Brain Dead signature Dyed Fleece Crewneck and Sweatpants

Remember middle school chemistry class? How fun was that. Beakers, pipettes and periodic tables aside, our favorite part was learning about liquids. Turn a liquid really cold? You have a solid. Heat it up? That’s a gas. While our primary education gave us the basics, one question remained: What would happen if we took a liquid and threw it all over a set of our signature fleece crewneck and sweatpants? Well, now we know… Our liquid dyed crewneck and sweatpant is now available via wearebraindead.com.
