Brain Dead x Aliens

(Fri, Aug 08, 25)

Brain Dead has partnered with 20th Century Studios’ Aliens to launch a limited capsule collection inspired by the original Aliens comics published by Dark Horse Comics. The collaboration draws heavily from Kyle Ng’s personal archive.

Before Brain Dead existed, Kyle was already immersed in a world of pulp, panels, and illustrations. Comic book shops were his creative playground, and the stories he found there helped form the visual language that would later become the foundation of the brand. This collection is a return to those roots.

First released in 1979, Alien brought a new tone to science fiction: one that leaned into industrial design, psychological horror, and deep-space realism. By 1988, the story expanded into comics, becoming a landmark moment not only for the franchise but for the comic industry at large. The Aliens comics proved that cinematic worlds could be extended with depth and vision in a new medium—turning a single film into a global, cross-format legacy.

The Brain Dead x Aliens capsule includes four pieces: a 6-panel hat, two graphic t-shirts, and a hoodie. Each graphic was pulled directly from original comic artwork, hand-selected and scanned from Kyle’s archive to honor the look and feel of the original series.

To launch the capsule, Brain Dead Studios Fairfax will host a two-day Aliens takeover on August 9th and 10th. The space will be transformed with screenings, exclusive product, and immersive atmosphere. Programming includes a full 7-film marathon in chronological story order on August 9th, followed by back-to-back screenings of Alien and Aliens on August 10th.

For the first time ever, Brain Dead Studios is also expanding beyond Los Angeles. Additional screenings will take place in Portland at Portland Art Museum and in New York at Roxy Cinema, with the collection available for purchase on-site.
