A UNIQUE BOULDERING COMPETITION
In traditional redpoint bouldering competitions, setters pre-assign point values to each problem based on difficulty. This approach leads competitors to focus solely on the “hardest” or “most valuable” climbs. In contrast, All Rise’s “Festival-Style” redpoint round shifts the emphasis from scoring to group interaction.
First, all problems, regardless of difficulty, start with equal value and decrease with each successful ascent. Second, all problems contribute to a competitor's score, encouraging attempts on every climb rather than just a few deemed “hardest” or “most valuable.” Lastly, a competitor can only count a climb if a fellow competitor witnesses the ascent and then validates it by initialing their scorecard.
Beyond the unique scoring system, competitors can expect quirky interventions and a mix of avant-garde boulder problems, along with three categories for finals: Men’s, Women’s, and Non-Binary. A total of $7,500 will be awarded among the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finalists, with $2,500 allocated to each category.
