Brain Dead x DEVO

(Thu, Oct 19, 23)

In 1973, two sets of brothers—Bob and Gerald Casale and Bob and Mark Mothersbaugh—along with Alan Myer, came together to form what would become the legendary art-pop band DEVO. Inspired by the concept of “de-evolution,” a notion that implies a backflip-Darwinian regression of society, the band created a sonic and visual universe that merged the Dadaist tongue-in-cheek attitude, with the new-wave energetic sensibility.

The event will feature a screening of the 1957 American satirical drama A Face In The Crowd curated by the band, and of rare and never-before-seen footage, together with a conversation between the band and Lyndsey Parker, and the debut of the collaborative Brain Dead collection, comprising of two tees, one six-panel hat, and a tote bag dedicated to DEVO’s music and over-encompassing universe. The collaboration will be available at Dover Street Market in London and LA, Brain Dead Harajuku, in addition to Fairfax, and online.
After 50 years of innovation and experimentalism, DEVO unveils a new career-spanning boxed set that encompasses all of the band’s hits and a selection of rarities. To celebrate the anniversary, Brain Dead has collaborated with the Ohio-native trailblazers on a special collection.
